On the occasion of the 129th anniversary of Punjab National Bank, several events were held on April 18, 2023. The celebrations began with a tree-planting event at the Banaprastha Seba Ashram, followed by an awareness programme and financial literacy session for SHG and JLG members at the Seva’s own building. The event was graced by the presence of Shri Sudhanshu Shekhar Das, GM, PNB (Kolkata Zone), Shri Sandipan Acharya, DGM and Circle Head of PNB, North 24 Parganas Circle, and Abhijit Gupta, AGM and DCO of PNB, North 24 Parganas Circle.
A total of 12 saplings were planted at Banaprastha, with nearly all officials participating in the tree planting. Following this, everyone proceeded to the Gobardanga Seba Farmers’ Samity building, where they were warmly welcomed with a shower of flowers. Initially, Shri Gobinda Lal Majumdar, the Secretary of Seba, honored Shri Sudhanshu Shekhar Das with a traditional scarf. The President of Seba, Shri Himadri Gomsta, presented him with a memento, and other officials were similarly welcomed.
The officials, along with Seba officers, interacted with members of the JLG and SHG groups, inquiring about their needs and challenges and assuring them of support. Subsequently, through the ESSO HAT DHARI project, food supplies were distributed to needy mothers, which brought joy to all attendees. Some SHG groups received group loan funds directly from the officials, while some farmers were given saplings.
The officials then reviewed the accounts department of the Gobardanga Seva Farmers’ Association and listened to a presentation on spices and oil from Seva’s self-reliant FPC, with the Division Head, Subrata Mukherjee, offering full support. The day’s program concluded on this positive and supportive note.
