On June 15, 2023, a meeting between Researchers-Extension farmer Interface Meet was held at the Gobardanga Seba Farmers’ Samity’s own building. On the same day, a ‘Farmers’ Meet’ with 400 farmers was held at the Media Kishore Sangha Club grounds. Distinguished guests on that day included Professor S. K. Dutta, Vice-Chancellor of Biswa Bangla Biswabidyalay, and other officers from ICAR-CRIJAF. They were first welcomed with a shower of flowers. Following this, they held a special discussion session with women from self-Help groups, which also took place in our own building.
In the afternoon, everyone proceeded to the Media Kishore Sangha Club grounds in Gobardanga. There, ICAR-CRIJAF Barrackpore’s Director DR. Gauranga Kar, distinguished guest Professor S. K. Dutta, and other officials inaugurated the event by lighting a lamp. Dr. Gauranga Kar welcomed Professor S. K. Dutta with flowers, and then the Secretary of Gobardanga Seba Farmers’ Samity, Shr. Gobinda Lal Majumdar, welcomed Dr. Gauranga Kar and other officials.
The discussion highlighted the imminent water scarcity in India and the need to stop water wastage. The conversation also touched upon agricultural improvement and how to cultivate using high-quality seeds. All the farmers were pleased with this discussion. Finally, everyone took a pledge to plant trees, and several trees were planted along the roadside in the area. The officials, along with the Secretary of the Gobardanga Farmers’ Samity, handed over high-quality paddy seeds to the farmers’ families, after which the event concluded.
